Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship Program

For those students transferring from community colleges to 4-year
institutions.

Undergraduate:
--------------

The award will provide funding for tuition, room and board, required fees, and books for the remainder of the Jack Kent Cooke Scholars's undergraduate degree. Award amounts will vary for each recipient based on the institution he or she attends. Awards cannot exceed $30,000 annually. Scholarship monies not used during one academic year are not transferable to the succeeding academic year. Scholarships are renewable each year if the Scholar continues to excel academically and to meet the program's requirements.

To be eligible for a scholarship, a student must:
1. Be attending a community college or 2-year institution that is located in the U.S. and fully licensed and or accredited.
2. Have completed freshman year credits by December 31, 2002.
3. Have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
4. Be transferring to an accredited 4-year institution for the Fall 2003
term.

The Foundation will award scholarships to students in the spring of 2003 for use during the 2003-2004 academic year. In order to be considered for an award, students must be nominated by their institution. The deadline for RECEIPT of all 2003 nominations is February 1, 2003. Applications may be picked up from Kent 121 or Kent 119 or can be downloaded from the Foundation's website at
www.jackkentcookefoundation.org. Applications must be submitted to the
institutional representative, Andristine Robinson in Kent 121 or Kent 119, no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2003. A screening committee will review the applications in order to select two students from the college for nomination. The two nominees will have to provide two copies of the Federal SAR (Student Aid Report) for the 2002-2003 school year (or must complete the 2002-2003 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) . To ensure that the SAR is available in time, it must be filed no later than December 15, 2002.

Graduate:
----------

In the spring of 2003, the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation will award up to 50 graduate scholarships to outstanding students for use during the 2003-2004 academic year. Each award will provide funding for tuition, room and board, required fees, and books for up to six years of graduate study. Jack Kent Cooke Scholars may use the award to attend any accredited graduate school in the U.S. or abroad to pursue any graduate or professional degree.

The Foundation will begin accepting applications on December 1, 2002, with a receipt deadline of February 1, 2003.

To be eligible, a student must:

· Be a college senior.

· Be a resident of Virginia, Maryland, or the District of Columbia.

· Plan to enroll full time in a graduate or professional degree program at an accredited institution during Fall 2003.

· Have a cumulative undergraduate grade point average of at least "B" (or the equivalent).
